FG allocates N110 billion TETFund for medical school rehabilitation in 18 institutions


18 universities will be benefiting from the Federal Government’s N110 billion investment in medical education, courtesy of TETFund.


Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, made this known while inaugurating the ministerial committee on TETFund High Impact Intervention Project for Medical Schools Rehabilitation Across the Six Geo-political Zones on Tuesday in Abuja.


 


Each university will receive approximately ₦4 billion, with ₦750 million allocated for hostel construction. This initiative aims to upgrade facilities, expand resources, and equip medical schools with the latest technologies.

The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving medical education and healthcare delivery in Nigeria.


A 12-man Ministerial Monitoring Committee, chaired by Prof. Biodun Sulyman Alabi, has been inaugurated to ensure adherence to project goals and proper use of funds. Professor Alabi, Provost of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Ilorin, serves as Chairman of the Association of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine.


List of beneficiary institutions 


The beneficiary institutions include University of Jos, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Benin, Imo State University, University of Medical Sciences (Ondo State), and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University (Katsina).


Other institutions on the list are University of Calabar, Benue State University, University of Maiduguri, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (Bauchi), Gombe State University, University of Nigeria, and Bayelsa State University.


Also included are Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Usman Danfodiyo University (Sokoto), University of Ibadan, and University of Lagos.
