LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU) ANNOUNCES 2025/2026 INDIGENESHIP VERIFICATION EXERCISE FOR LAGOS STATE ORIGIN CANDIDATES

The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has officially announced the commencement of its Indigeneship Verification Exercise (IIVE) for candidates of Lagos State origin seeking admission into the institution for the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu, the exercise is open exclusively to candidates who selected LASU as their first choice in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 195.

The registration portal for the verification exercise will be open from Monday, 26th May 2025 and will close on Thursday, 19th June 2025. Candidates are expected to register online via the official university portal at https://lasu.edu.ng/iive and make all necessary payments through the provided link.

The verification interviews will commence on the same day as registration—Monday, 26th May 2025—and will be conducted in four phases:

Phase 1: Monday, 26th May – Thursday, 29th May 2025

Phase 2: Monday, 2nd June – Thursday, 5th June 2025

Phase 3: Monday, 9th June – Thursday, 12th June 2025

Phase 4: Monday, 16th June – Thursday, 19th June 2025

Venues for the verification interviews have been designated across the five administrative divisions of Lagos State:

Ikeja Division: Sociology Class, opposite University Health Centre

Badagry Division: New TETFund Building, Faculty of Education

Ikorodu Division: Law Clinic, Faculty of Law

Lagos Division: International Business Class, MBA Building

Epe Division: School of Transport and Logistics

The university also emphasized that only candidates who are genuinely of Lagos State origin are eligible to participate in the exercise. All applicants must be cleared by the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (IIVC) before they can be considered for admission into any programme.

Old applicants from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic sessions who were not offered admission have been instructed to revalidate their Indigeneship Clearance Certificates online with payment.

In addition, Direct Entry candidates of Lagos State origin are also required to partake in the verification exercise to be considered for admission.

The university warned applicants against making payments through unofficial channels or individuals, stressing that any candidate who does so does so at their own risk.

The Registrar reiterated that the verification exercise does not guarantee admission but is a mandatory prerequisite for Lagos State origin candidates hoping to secure admission into LASU.

For more information, candidates are advised to visit the university’s official website.
