FG Confirms Inclusion of Rural Areas in CBT Plans for WAEC and NECO

Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Ahmad, has assured Nigerians that no student will be left behind in the federal government’s plan to fully adopt computer-based testing (CBT) for WAEC and other national exams by 2026.

Speaking during a WASSCE monitoring visit in Abuja, she emphasized that CBT offers more orderliness, timely delivery, and security compared to traditional paper exams, which often suffer from delays and malpractices.

She noted that CBT would curb exam fraud through individualized questions and tighter control.

While recognizing challenges like poor electricity and internet in rural areas, she affirmed that the government is partnering with JAMB, WAEC, NECO, and state governments to use existing CBT centres and develop solutions that ensure every student,

regardless of location, can participate in the exams without being disadvantaged.
