Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has officially launched the Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Leadership Centre, a multi-million-naira monument dedicated to the legacy of his late brother, the first civilian governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
The Centre, located within Adeleke University, aims to serve as a beacon for future leaders, grounded in the principles of compassion, inclusivity, and people-centred governance.
At the unveiling ceremony on Wednesday, attended by political elites, dignitaries, and well-wishers, Governor Adeleke described the Centre as a “landmark initiative” intended to preserve the values that defined his brother’s remarkable leadership.
“It is with mixed emotions of joy and remembrance that I attend this event. The commissioning of this leadership centre, named after my late brother, is a historic moment, not only for the Adeleke family but also for the people of Osun,” he said.
The Governor recalled his brother’s inclusive approach to leadership, which, according to him, was rooted in respect for every individual, regardless of their social status.
In an emotional address, Salam shared that his mentor transcended politics. “Senator Adeleke was more than a politician; he was the embodiment of compassion. On that Sunday morning, everything changed. Osun, Nigeria, and indeed humanity, lost an extraordinary man,” Salam recalled, remembering the moment he heard of Adeleke’s passing eight years ago.
Salam went on to explain that the Centre would not only act as a memorial but also as an active institution that would continue Senator Adeleke’s vision.
“This Centre is a living archive of his journey, his struggles, and his values. It is a place where future leaders can come to learn what true service to humanity looks like,” he stated.
The Leadership Centre features a well-equipped library, a photo gallery, offices, and a lecture hall with a seating capacity for 250 to 300 people.
The building’s design pays tribute to Senator Adeleke’s signature traditional cap, symbolising his deep ties to Osun’s rich cultural heritage. A five-year development plan is also in place to ensure the Centre’s growth and long-term influence on leadership in the state.
The Timi of Edeland, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal (Laminisa I), praised the initiative, acknowledging Senator Adeleke’s legacy of wisdom, strength, and leadership.
